BioSET stands for Bioenergetic Sensitivity and Enzyme Therapy. It was developed by Dr. Ellen Cutler after using and improving NAET (Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique). BioSET combines some of the concepts and techniques of NAET with enzyme therapy and homeopathic detoxification. Dr. Stebbins was trained in NAET approximately 15 years ago. He began using BioSET about 13 years ago. Additionally, he has added Laser enhanced allergy biofeedback to further his ability to treat allergies.

So what can I expect? - Your initial visit will take about 1 hour. After taking a history Dr. Stebbins will test BioSET Level I. This is an overview of your body systems including organs, glands, enzymes and the immune system. This supports the foundation upon which the other treatments are built. Many patients don't have problems in this level.

Next, Dr. Stebbins tests BioSET Level II including protein metabolism, sugars, sugar metabolism, wheat, corn, dairy, phenols, soy, yeast, trees, weeds, grasses, molds, dust, and any other substances which your history indicates could be involved. Based upon the number and type of allergies/ sensitivities which are determined at this level, we can discuss treatment options. Hormones may also be tested at this time. Subsequent visits usually take about 30 minutes.

Sensitivities are determined by a simple yet accurate procedure called muscle testing (applied kinesiology).There are no injections beneath the skin, no blood samples taken and no elimination diets. When used correctly it is extremely accurate and generally enjoyable.

Muscle Testing  -  Muscle testing (also known as applied kinesiology or energy kinesiology) was developed about 35 years ago by Dr. George Goodheart. In twenty years of practice I have found nothing which rivals muscle testing, with the exception of pulse taking which is a Chinese diagnostic technique which takes many  years to learn. Muscle testing is easy to learn, much like learning to drive with a clutch. Thers' a knack to it. Some people use it incorrectly, thus giving it a bad name. Although it seems wierd at first, it is based upon biophysics and resonances. Once you experience it you will better understand. Basically, muscle testing is used to get information. It helps us determine what the body negatively or positively reacts to.

Clearings - After determining some of the resonances which weaken you body's energy, Dr. Stebbins will `clear' the disharmony so that your body better tolerates the offending substance. This is done very easily, in part, by stimulating about 100 acupuncture points on the back with acupressure (no needles) and magnetic stimulation. The process is quick and easy. He may also choose to use Laser Enhanced Biofeedback. Usually one session treats one to two substances. Therefore, if you have an allergy to 8 things, it may take anywhere from 4 to 8 sessions. The results vary from patient to patient, however most treatments are long-lasting.

Enzyme Supplementation - Enzymesmay be used. They act as catalysts for hundreds of processes within the body. There are 3,000 different enzymes within the human body, and hundreds of enzyme systems. Biological life is impossible without them. Enzymes are necessary for breaking down and digesting food. In fact, many food sensitivities may have developed because enzymes aren't working properly. It is not enough to say "You are what you eat", it is more accurate to say "You are what you absorb". If your body isn't breaking down food efficiently nutirents will not be available for the cells. You can eat yet the cells starve. As we age our body's ability to produce enzymes deteriorates. We need to supplement in order to support digestive efficiency and maximize nutrition. Dr. Stebbins may recommend a digestive enzyme to improve the efficiency of your digestion.

Homeopathic, Herbs, Nutritional supplements - Dr. Stebbins may also recommend other natural products to enhance the therapy. He believes in supplementing only when necessary. Acupuncture may also be considered.

 We're stuck in a bio-chemistry paradigm here in the west. Science is often divided into three main subjects in schools: biology, chemistry, and physics. Biology relates to body tissues and structures. Chemistry relates to the chemical processes within the body. But physics usually is restricted to the physical/ mathematical aspects of nature. Yet, over the past four decades there has been more research in a new realm of biophysics. This relates to the subtle electromagnetic nature of the body.

In western medicine these concepts are pretty much ignored or disregarded as unsubstantiated, despite the fact that there are some brilliant researchers who have proven that: 1) every cell in the body creates subtle electrical signals; 2) there is an energy field which surrounds the body; and 3) each tissue in the body vibrates at a specific frequency (resonance).  The Chinese recognized this energetic aspect of the body 5,000 years ago.

In physics, the concept of coherance applies to body energetics. Coherance refers to the phenomenon: "the whole is greater than the sum of its' parts". Each of the three trillion cells in our body emits sutble electrical signals and resonances (vibrational patterns) which combine to form an energy field within us, as well as around us. Some researchers believe this is not just an energy field but also an informational field. What we are now learning is that energy carries information, one energy affects another energy, and our bodies react to these energies. Biophysicists have also discovered that our cells emit light (biophotons). It seems that all the cells in the body communicate through an instantaneous and elaborate system of light and energy. This field energetics also allows the body to communicate outside its own system. This is why energetic phenomenon can so profoundly affect us, good or bad. This  is also why holding a vial with the electromagnetic resonance of a substance can be held by a subject and immediatley assessed through muscle testing.
